The A30 dates from 2019 and is past its software support window. It was a well-judged phone — an AMOLED screen and a large battery at a mid-range price — but it should not be financed today.
What “past support” actually means
The phone keeps working. What stops is the flow of security patches, and that has a specific consequence rather than a vague one:
- Newly discovered vulnerabilities are not fixed — the real risk
- Apps eventually stop supporting the Android version, banking apps often first
- The browser stops receiving security fixes, since it follows the system
The practical rule: do not keep banking or payment apps on an unsupported phone.
If you own one
No urgency to replace it if it does what you need. Move financial apps elsewhere, and consider a battery replacement — inexpensive, and it restores most of the original endurance.
Paired with a SIM-only plan, it costs very little to keep running.
What replaces it well
| You liked the A30 for | Look at |
|---|---|
| The AMOLED screen | Galaxy A15 or A25 |
| Battery life | Galaxy A16 |
| Mid-range balance | Galaxy A34 |
