Xbox Series X on contract means retailer device financing, not a mobile contract. No SIM, no airtime, no bundled data — just a monthly instalment until the console is settled.

On the listing we checked, the Series X was R17 999 in cash and R26 064 on a 24-month credit agreement. Financing the flagship Xbox therefore cost an extra R8 065 for identical hardware. There was also an interest-free six-week option at R4 500 a month.

This page compares those three routes, explains the terms, and sets out what you get and what you still have to buy.

Compare Xbox Series X Contract Deals

The Series X is the flagship: a disc drive, 1TB of internal storage and true 4K at 60 FPS, up to 120 FPS. The comparison that decides the purchase is not against the Series S — it is between paying cash and paying interest.

Route What you pay Total
Cash R17 999 once off R17 999
Four instalments over six weeks, no interest, no fees R4 500 × 4 R18 000
Retailer credit over 24 months at 18% R1 086 pm R26 064

The six-week route costs effectively the same as cash. The 24-month route costs 45% more. If the monthly figure is what makes the console possible, that is a legitimate reason to finance — but go in knowing the number is R26 064, not R17 999.

If that total gives you pause, the cheaper sibling is worth a look: Xbox Series S contract deals start around R10 999 in cash. For both models side by side, see Xbox contract deals.

Note too that R26 064 is laptop money. If the console is competing with a work machine for the same budget, price both.

Current Xbox Series X Contract Deals

CURRENT MARKET FACT (checked September 2026 on Incredible Connection’s Xbox Series X listing): R17 999 cash, or R1 086 per month over 24 months at an 18% interest rate, giving a credit price of R26 064. A buy-now-pay-later option of four instalments of R4 500 over six weeks was offered on the same page, with no interest and no fees. Delivery was quoted at two to five working days.

The listing specified 1TB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe storage, one wireless controller, and true 4K at 60 FPS with up to 120 FPS supported.

We have not published a price list across retailers, because console pricing and promotions change often. Check the listing on the day you buy and compare at least two retailers before accepting a credit offer.

Monthly Prices and Contract Terms

The terms on the listing we checked were a 24-month agreement at an 18% interest rate, quoted as R1 086 a month with the credit price of R26 064 shown separately.

Route What you pay Total
Cash R17 999 once off R17 999
Four instalments over six weeks, no interest, no fees R4 500 × 4 R18 000
Retailer credit over 24 months at 18% R1 086 pm R26 064

Three things are worth asking before signing. First, whether initiation or monthly service fees sit on top of the quoted instalment. Second, what settling early would cost — under the National Credit Act you may settle a credit agreement early, and the saving depends on how interest is calculated. Third, whether the credit provider is the retailer or a third party, because that determines who you deal with if something goes wrong.

If the six-week interest-free option is affordable, it is the clearly cheaper route: R18 000 against R26 064 for the same console.

What Is Included

A Series X purchase is the console and one controller. The rest is extra, and on a financed purchase those extras are not covered by the instalment.

Included You still pay for
Xbox Series X console, 1TB SSD Games, unless a bundle says otherwise
One wireless controller A second controller for local multiplayer
Power and display cables An online subscription after any trial
Manufacturer warranty Expansion storage once 1TB fills
Disc drive Internet for updates and downloads

The disc drive is the practical advantage over the Series S: you can buy used games, borrow them and resell them. Over a couple of years that can offset a meaningful part of the price difference.

Networks, Retailers or Providers to Compare

Consoles in South Africa are financed by retailers and credit providers, not by mobile networks. That is the practical difference between this and a phone contract: there is no SIM, no airtime and no bundled data offsetting the monthly cost.

How to Choose the Right Deal

Which route suits which situation

You can pay cash. Do. You save R8 065 against the 24-month agreement.

You can cover it within six weeks. Take the interest-free instalment option — effectively the cash price.

Only the monthly figure is affordable. The 24-month agreement is the route, provided R1 086 fits your budget alongside everything else and you accept the R26 064 total.

You buy digitally and play a few titles. Consider the cheaper digital-only console instead — the credit price difference is over R10 000.

You are choosing between a console and a laptop. At R26 064 financed, price both properly before deciding.

What to check before you apply

Financing applications are subject to the credit provider’s checks — normally identification, proof of address, banking details, and a credit and affordability assessment under the National Credit Act. Requirements vary by provider.
