Phone and tablet contract deals pair a handset with a tablet on one agreement. Before comparing any offer, one technical point decides whether the bundle makes sense at all: only cellular tablets can take a SIM.

Cellular or Wi-Fi — the decision that matters

A Wi-Fi-only tablet has no SIM slot. It cannot be on a network contract in the usual sense, though a retailer may finance it separately.

Cellular tablets cost more than their Wi-Fi equivalents, and that premium is only worth paying if you will genuinely use the tablet away from Wi-Fi. If it mostly lives at home or in one office, a Wi-Fi tablet paired with tethering from your phone is cheaper — both up front and monthly, since you avoid a second line.

Who these bundles suit

It suits people who already have adequate home internet least, since the tablet’s data will mostly go unused.

How the bundle works

One agreement, one credit assessment, one instalment, and usually two SIMs — one for the phone, one data-only for the tablet. Data is either shared from a pool or split per line.

Both SIMs require RICA registration. See RICA requirements for a contract SIM and how do double phone deals work.
