Apple now offers the iPhone 16 in 128GB only, so most network deals are for that single storage size.

What Apple offers now
According to Apple’s South African specs page, the current iPhone 16 has:
- 128GB storage
- a 6.1-inch OLED display
- the A18 chip
- a choice of Black, White, Pink, Teal or Ultramarine
Colour availability on contract depends on network stock. If you want a specific colour, such as pink, check it on the deal page before you apply.
Monthly Price and Contract Term
The monthly price for an iPhone 16 contract depends on three things: the plan attached to the phone, the contract length and any promotion that’s running.
Vodacom
Vodacom’s iPhone 16 product page offered 24-month and 36-month options. On 36 months, the deals shown were:

Vodacom also listed a once-off price of R16,599 for anyone who’d rather buy the phone outright and pair it with a SIM-only plan.
Telkom
Telkom’s device gallery showed the iPhone 16 from R689 pm with an “On promo” tag. The contract term and plan inclusions weren’t visible on the gallery page, so open the deal to see them.
24 or 36 months?
A 36-month contract usually lowers the monthly payment because the phone cost is spread over more months. The trade-off is a longer commitment and a higher total cost over the contract. Work out the full amount (monthly price × months, plus once-off fees) before choosing.
Data, Minutes and Included Extras
The entry-level Vodacom deals pair the iPhone 16 with 1GB of data and unlimited voice minutes. That suits someone who’s mostly on Wi-Fi. If you use data for streaming, maps or hotspotting, the 10GB option or a bigger plan may work out better than buying extra bundles every month.
When comparing inclusions, look at:
- Anytime vs night data: some plans split data allocations by time of day.
- Voice: unlimited minutes may still have fair-use terms.
- SMS and extras: some plans include SMS bundles, streaming or rewards.
- Top-up versions: some networks offer “top-up” plans that let you control spend beyond the included allocation.

Vodacom
Vodacom listed the iPhone 16 128GB for new contracts, upgrades and once-off purchase. The Black model was marked out of stock when we checked, with Vodacom saying it could still be ordered with a 2–5 week wait. You can compare options on Vodacom’s Apple device listing.
Telkom
Telkom listed the iPhone 16 in its Apple range with a promotional monthly price. Telkom’s smartphone deals run on its FlexOn plans, so check which plan is attached to the price.
Cell C
Cell C’s contracts page included the Apple iPhone 16 128GB on its Elevate plan range. Pricing didn’t load on the product page when we checked, so confirm the monthly amount directly with Cell C.
MTN
MTN’s September 2026 catalogue lists the iPhone 16 128GB at R699 pm x 36 on Yellow Plans plus, which includes 1.5GB of anytime data and 120 all-network minutes (catalogue valid until 6 October 2026, checked September 2026). The deal is while stock lasts. MTN’s online Apple listing didn’t show the iPhone 16 on 12 September, so ask MTN whether you can order the catalogue deal online or in store.
Buying outright
If you already have a SIM-only plan you like, compare the once-off price against the total cost of a contract. Paying cash avoids a long commitment, but you need the full amount up front.
Upfront Costs, Fees and Promotion Terms
Monthly prices don’t always show the full cost. Before you sign, check for:
- Connection or activation fees charged once at the start
- Delivery costs, which Vodacom says depend on your location
- Upfront device payments if the credit check result means a deposit is needed
- Promotion end dates, because “On promo” pricing can change without notice
- Annual price escalation clauses in the contract terms
A promotional price is only useful if it still applies on the day you apply. Screenshot the deal details before submitting.
What to Check Before You Apply
Use this short checklist to compare iPhone 16 offers fairly:
