When we checked on 13 September 2026, Vodacom’s online shop listed the 11-inch iPad (A16) from R449 PM and an iPad Pro 13-inch from R1,349 PM. Cell C’s current Connector Book has the 11-inch iPad as a tablet deal and as an add-on to its iPhone 17 deal. MTN’s September 2026 catalogue offers the iPad and iPad Air as add-ons to an Apple device deal. We didn’t find iPad deals at Telkom.

Cell C iPad deals
Cell C’s Connector Book, valid 22 September to 2 November 2026, checked September 2026:
- iPad A16 11″ 128GB Wi-Fi as a tablet deal: R469 PM x 36 on SmartData top up 10GB (5GB anytime and 5GB night data), including a pocket router.
- iPad A16 11″ 128GB Wi-Fi as an add-on: from R459 PM x 36 on the Apple iPhone 17 deal only, from Elevate 3+ and up. You can choose the iPad or AirPods 4, not both.
Cell C notes limited stock on all devices and a once-off SIM and connection fee of R199 on all contracts. These iPad deals didn’t appear in Cell C’s online tablet listing, so ask in store.
MTN iPad add-ons
MTN’s September 2026 Y’ello Trader catalogue, valid 7 September to 6 October 2026, lists two iPads as add-ons. They weren’t in MTN’s online shop when we checked.
- iPad 11-inch Wi-Fi 128GB: from R379 PM x 36
- iPad Air 11″ M4 128GB GPS + Cellular: from R799 PM x 36
Per the catalogue terms, both are eligible on Apple device deals and are supplied through a Y’ello Cart voucher that you redeem online. The tablet add-on section also offers 21GB of data on MTN Mobile Internet Silver for an extra R129 PM.
Monthly Prices and Contract Terms
Does the device use the SIM itself?
This is the question that decides whether a data plan is doing real work. A cellular model uses the SIM directly; a Wi-Fi-only model does not, so the bundled data is feeding something else, such as a router or a separate phone line. Both can be reasonable purchases, but only one of them justifies paying for connectivity attached to the device. Confirm which variant the deal covers before comparing monthly figures.
Terms to check
- Term. Cell C’s and MTN’s iPad prices are on 36 months. Confirm the term on any Vodacom deal before comparing.
- Add-on conditions. Cell C’s add-on needs its iPhone 17 deal at a specific plan level. MTN’s add-ons need a qualifying Apple device deal.
- Once-off and upfront fees. Cell C charges R199 once-off on all contracts, per its current booklet. MTN’s catalogue lists a R150 once-off in-store SIM and connection fee on new contracts, and from 7 September 2026 new postpaid activations require one month’s subscription upfront.
- Delivery and returns. Vodacom’s product page showed a flat R79 delivery fee and a 7-day return window for once-off and contract purchases, checked September 2026.
- Cancellation. Cancelling early usually means settling the remaining device balance.
Total-cost check
Multiply the monthly price by the term, add once-off fees, and compare with the iPad’s cash price. For add-ons, compare the phone deal with and without the iPad.

- The exact model. Generation, chip, screen size and storage.
- Connectivity. Wi-Fi only, or Wi-Fi + 5G eSIM. A Wi-Fi-only iPad deal may include a router or MiFi for data.
- Data plan. Anytime and night data amounts, and any top-up plan. An add-on iPad may come with no data unless you add a plan.
- Accessories. Covers, keyboards and Apple Pencil are extras unless the deal says otherwise.
- Warranty and insurance. Check repair handling and whether insurance is optional.

Telkom’s current catalogue has no iPad deals, so it’s only worth checking if you’re open to Android tablets. MTN has no standalone iPad deal in its catalogue or online shop, but offers the iPad and iPad Air as add-ons if you’re taking an Apple device deal.
Retailers
Apple resellers and electronics retailers sell iPads once-off and sometimes on store credit, which suits buyers who don’t need a data plan.

1. Decide how you’ll connect. If the iPad mainly stays at home on WiFi, a Wi-Fi model may be enough. 2. Choose standalone or add-on. An add-on can make sense if you’re getting a new phone anyway. 3. Pick storage carefully. Photos, offline video and apps fill 128GB faster than you think. 4. Compare total cost over the full term. 5. Check the plan fits your use. Night data won’t help if you use the iPad during the day. 6. Check affordability. Contracts involve credit and affordability checks, and approval isn’t guaranteed.
