When we checked on 13 September 2026, two South African networks offered a MacBook on contract. Vodacom listed the Apple MacBook Neo 13-inch 8/256GB from R649 PM on its online shop. MTN’s September 2026 Y’ello Trader lists a 13-inch MacBook Neo 512GB from R679 PMx36 and a MacBook Air M5 13-inch 512GB from R1 119 PMx36 as add-ons on MTN Mobile Internet plans (all checked September 2026; MTN’s offer is valid 7 September to 6 October 2026). Vodacom’s MacBook Air and Pro models were once-off only, and Telkom and Cell C’s catalogues had laptop deals from other brands.

Vodacom MacBook range
- MacBook Neo 13-inch 8/256GB SSD (A18 Pro chip): available on new contract, upgrade or once-off; listed from R649 PM on Vodacom’s online shop, checked September 2026.
- MacBook Air 13-inch 256GB (M2) and 16/512GB (M5): once-off only.
- MacBook Pro 14-inch 16/512GB (M4) and 16/1TB (M5): once-off only.
The “from” price is the lowest listed option. The plan, term and any bundled router didn’t load when we checked, so open the deal and check what’s included before comparing.
MTN MacBook add-ons

Both were on MTN’s Y’ello Trader, checked September 2026. MTN says they’re only available on Mobile Internet 24- and 36-month plans, and the laptop page shows “Add R129 PM and get 21GB of data on MTN Mobile Internet Silver”. You receive a Y’ello Cart voucher and redeem it online.
Monthly Prices and Contract Terms
Key terms to check
- Term. MTN’s MacBook add-ons are priced over 36 months. Confirm the term linked to any monthly price you see.
- Plan inclusions. Check the data amount, whether it is anytime or night data, and whether it’s on a SIM, MiFi or router.
- Once-off fees. MTN’s trader lists a once-off in-store SIM and connection fee of R150 on new contracts, and Vodacom’s product page showed a flat R79 delivery fee, both checked September 2026.
- Upfront payment. From 7 September 2026, MTN says new postpaid Mobile and Home contracts need an upfront payment equal to one month’s subscription.
- Returns. Vodacom’s product page said once-off and contract purchases can be returned within 7 days. Read the full returns policy for conditions.
- Early cancellation. You normally settle the remaining device balance if you cancel.
Total-cost check
Monthly price x months + once-off fees = what you’ll repay. On an add-on deal, include the data plan too. Compare that with the MacBook’s once-off price plus the cost of data you’d buy anyway. The bigger the gap, the more you’re paying for the convenience.
What Is Included
When comparing a MacBook deal, confirm:
- The exact configuration. Chip, RAM, storage and screen size. Vodacom’s Neo is 256GB; MTN’s is 512GB.
- Colour and delivery. Vodacom’s Neo listing showed two colours, and the Silver option carried a delayed-delivery notice of 3 to 5 weeks when we checked.
- Connectivity device. Whether you get a router, MiFi or data SIM, and if it must be returned.
- Data allocation. How much, what hours and whether it rolls over.
- Accessories. MTN shows a free RIVA case with its MacBook add-ons. Treat other extras as included only if the deal says so.
- Warranty, insurance and fulfilment. Who handles repairs, whether insurance is optional, and, for MTN’s vouchers, that MTN says it isn’t responsible for Y’ello Cart stock or delivery.

Vodacom sells the MacBook Neo on contract through its online shop, which also shows which models are once-off only.
MTN, Telkom and Cell C
MTN offers MacBook Neo and MacBook Air add-ons through its current Y’ello Trader, tied to Mobile Internet plans. Telkom and Cell C’s current catalogues list laptop deals from other brands, such as HUAWEI, HONOR, HP and Packard Bell. They’re worth comparing if you don’t need macOS.
Apple resellers and retailers
Apple Premium Resellers and electronics retailers sell MacBook Air and Pro models once-off and sometimes on store credit or finance. Compare interest, fees and total repayment with a network contract.

1. Match the model to your work. Light browsing and study suit an entry model; video editing or development may need more memory. 2. Decide if you need the data plan. If you have home WiFi and a phone hotspot, a plan may add little. 3. Compare total cost. A contract price that looks affordable can add up over 36 months. 4. Check the configuration carefully. 8GB vs 16GB memory and 256GB vs 512GB storage are lasting differences. 5. Check affordability. Network contracts involve credit and affordability checks; approval is not guaranteed. 6. Read the returns, delivery and cancellation terms before you sign.

Yes. On 13 September 2026, Vodacom listed the MacBook Neo 13-inch 8/256GB on contract, and MTN’s September 2026 Y’ello Trader offered MacBook Neo 512GB and MacBook Air M5 add-ons on Mobile Internet plans. We didn’t find MacBook contracts at Telkom or Cell C.
Is the MacBook Air available on contract?
At MTN, yes: the MacBook Air M5 13-inch 512GB was an add-on from R1 119 PMx36 on Mobile Internet plans, checked September 2026 and valid to 6 October 2026. Vodacom listed its MacBook Air models as not available to purchase monthly.
