Two phones on one contract concentrates all the liability in one person — and arranging it through a third-party dealer adds a second question: who you are actually contracting with.

Establish who holds the agreement

A dealer arranges the deal, but the credit agreement is normally with a network or a credit provider, not the shop. Before signing, confirm:

  1. Who the credit provider is, and that they are NCR registered
  2. Which network the lines run on
  3. Who you contact about billing, faults and warranty
  4. Whether any dealer fee sits on top of the network’s pricing

Support after the sale is where dealer experiences differ most — and it is invisible until something goes wrong.

The liability question

One person is assessed and owes the full amount for both devices. If the second user stops contributing, the debt and the credit record consequences belong to the signatory alone.

This suits shared household finances. Between friends, or across a relationship that may change over two years, it frequently does not.

What to check in the terms

Question Why it matters
Shared or separate data? Shared means one user can exhaust both
Can a line be removed? Circumstances change over two years
Are both handsets specified? Some deals pair a good phone with a filler
Total repayable? Monthly × term, plus upfront

Compare against two separate contracts

Two contracts sometimes cost less overall, and they split the liability. Price both ways before deciding.
