You can’t currently get the iPhone 15 Pro Max on contract from South Africa’s four main networks. When we checked in September 2026, Vodacom, MTN, Telkom and Cell C didn’t list it online, either new or pre-owned. Apple’s South African iPhone lineup no longer includes it either.
The good news is that the standard iPhone 15 is still on contract at all four networks, and the newer iPhone 17 Pro Max covers the Pro Max features. What the iPhone 15 Pro Max offers
Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max tech specs list a 6.7-inch OLED display with ProMotion (up to 120Hz) and an Always-On display, the A17 Pro chip, a 48MP main camera and a 5x Telephoto camera. It has the Action button, a USB-C port with USB 3 speeds (up to 10Gb/s) and 5G. Storage options were 256GB, 512GB and 1TB.
How it differs from the standard iPhone 15
The standard iPhone 15 is the model you’ll actually find on contract. According to Apple, it has a 6.1-inch display, the A16 Bionic chip, a 48MP main camera with 2x Telephoto via its sensor, and USB-C at USB 2 speeds. ProMotion and the Always-On display aren’t listed for it. If screen size, zoom or faster transfers matter to you, the standard model is a real step down.
Monthly Price and Contract Term
With no network listing the iPhone 15 Pro Max, there’s no current monthly price for it. If you see one advertised, check who provides the contract and whether the phone is new, pre-owned or refurbished.
Verified alternative prices at Telkom
Telkom’s catalogue, valid 7 September to 6 October 2026, lists:
- iPhone 15 128GB: R499 pm x 36, or R699 x 24, on FlexOn 2 (checked September 2026).
- iPhone 17 Pro Max 256GB: R1 079 pm x 36, or R1 479 x 24, on FlexOn 6 (checked September 2026).
MTN’s catalogue, also valid until 6 October 2026, lists the iPhone 15 128GB at R549 pm x 36 on Yellow Plans core and the iPhone 17 Pro Max 256GB at R1 229 pm x 36 on deluxe (checked September 2026). Both are while stock lasts.
The gap between the iPhone 15 and the 17 Pro Max is large, so decide first whether you need Pro Max features or mainly want an iPhone at a lower monthly cost. Vodacom and Cell C set their own prices; check their deal pages.
Choosing a term
Telkom shows both 24- and 36-month pricing. The 36-month option is cheaper each month but costs more in total commitment. Work out the full amount (monthly price times months, plus fees) for each term.
Data, Minutes and Included Extras
The plan behind the phone matters as much as the handset. On Telkom, the iPhone 15 on FlexOn 2 comes with 2GB Anytime data, 500 Telkom-to-Telkom minutes and 75 all-network minutes. The iPhone 17 Pro Max on FlexOn 6 includes 6GB Anytime data, 1 000 Telkom-to-Telkom minutes and 150 all-network minutes. Both catalogue deals add 20GB of once-off bonus data valid for 31 days.

Vodacom
Vodacom listed the standard iPhone 15 new in 128GB, plus the iPhone 17 Pro range, but no iPhone 15 Pro Max. Its pre-owned iPhones are older standard models.
MTN
MTN’s September 2026 catalogue lists the standard iPhone 15, with no upgrade restriction on its R549 core deal, plus the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max. There was no iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Telkom
Telkom’s catalogue lists the iPhone 15 128GB and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, with no iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Cell C
Cell C’s Apple range included the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, but not the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Retailers and pre-owned sellers
Some retailers sell pre-owned or refurbished iPhones, occasionally linked to a network contract. We haven’t verified iPhone 15 Pro Max stock from these sellers. If you find one, check the grading, warranty and battery condition, and confirm who the contract is with.

- SIM and connection fee: Telkom lists a R99 once-off fee (checked September 2026). Other networks charge their own fees.
- Offer validity: Telkom’s prices run from 7 September to 6 October 2026 or while stocks last.
- Upgrade vs new-line pricing: MTN’s catalogue has a separate upgrade-only iPhone 15 deal at R589 pm x 36 alongside its R549 deal, so check which price applies to you.
- Price adjustments: Telkom’s terms allow tariff plan charges to change during the contract. Look for similar clauses elsewhere.

What to Check Before You Apply
1. The exact model name: “iPhone 15” and “iPhone 15 Pro Max” are different phones with different screens, chips and cameras. 2. Storage: the Pro Max started at 256GB, while Telkom’s iPhone 15 deal is 128GB. Compare like for like. 3. Total contract cost across the full term, including fees. 4. Condition: for any pre-owned phone, confirm warranty cover and grading. 5. Your eligibility: networks usually ask for ID, proof of address and bank statements, and may run credit and affordability checks. Approval isn’t guaranteed.
