When we checked Cell C’s shop in September 2026, Apple listings started at R399 pm x 36 for the iPhone 13 Certified Pre Owned and included the iPhone 15, iPhone 16, iPhone 17e, iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Each deal comes with a Cell C Elevate package, on a 24- or 36-month term.

The table doesn’t compare like with like at the top end. Four models start on Elevate 1 +, while the iPhone 17, Air, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max start on the larger Elevate 2 + package.

Best-value entry: iPhone 13 Certified Pre Owned

New phone on a budget: iPhone 15 or iPhone 17e
The iPhone 15 started at R599 pm and the newer iPhone 17e at R649 pm, both on Elevate 1 +. The 17e was listed with 256GB, double the iPhone 15’s 128GB.
Mid-range: iPhone 16 and iPhone 17
The iPhone 16 128GB was R729 pm on Elevate 1 +. The iPhone 17 256GB was R879 pm, but on Elevate 2 +, so part of that difference is the bigger package.
Premium: iPhone Air, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max
These started from R1 099 to R1 249 pm x 36 on Elevate 2 +, before choosing more storage.
Certified pre-owned or new?
Cell C’s iPhone range spans both, and the choice is a straight trade. A certified pre-owned handset lowers the monthly amount on an older model; a new one costs more but carries full warranty and a longer useful life. Before deciding, ask what the certified pre-owned grading covers, what minimum battery health applies, and how long the warranty runs — then compare that against the monthly difference to the nearest new model.

Monthly Prices and Contract Terms
- Terms: 24 or 36 months. Cell C’s contracts page offered both as filters.
- 24 vs 36 months: on the iPhone 13 Certified Pre Owned, 24 months cost R150 pm more on Elevate 1 + and R100 pm more on Elevate 2 + and above. Shorter terms usually cost more each month but less overall.
- Package choice: each phone can be paired with a bigger Elevate package for more data and minutes, which raises the monthly price.
- Upgrades: Cell C says existing customers are generally eligible to upgrade in the last few months of a 24-month term. Check your date in the Cell C app or self-service portal.

Each Cell C iPhone contract pairs the phone with an Elevate + package. On the iPhone 13 page, the packages ran as follows:

Cell C’s FAQ explains two plan types. TopUp plans stop when your allowance runs out until you top up, which helps control your bill. Full postpaid plans allow out-of-bundle use, billed at month end. Ask which type your package is.
Most new contracts also carry a once-off SIM and connection fee, according to Cell C. The amount wasn’t shown on the product pages.

MTN’s September 2026 catalogue (valid until 6 October 2026) covered a similar set of models, plus a pre-owned iPhone 14 and the iPhone 16e. Cell C listed more storage sizes, up to 2TB on the iPhone 17 Pro Max, while MTN’s catalogue showed the 17 Pro Max in 256GB and 512GB. On the pre-owned iPhone 13, both networks started at R399 pm x 36 (MTN catalogue price, checked September 2026), but Cell C’s entry package included more data and minutes.

How to Choose the Right Deal
1. Set a total budget, not just a monthly one. Multiply the monthly price by the term. 2. Compare on the same package. Price the iPhone 16 and iPhone 17 both on Elevate 2 + before deciding which is better value. 3. Pick storage you’ll need for 3 years. A 128GB phone can fill up fast with photos and video. 4. Match the package to your usage. Elevate 1 + suits light users; streamers should look at Elevate 3 + or higher. 5. Check pre-owned terms if you choose the iPhone 13. 6. Have your documents ready. Cell C asks for a valid SA ID, proof of residence under 3 months old, and 3 months’ bank statements or payslips. Credit vetting usually takes 24 to 48 business hours, and approval isn’t guaranteed.
