In South Africa, Apple contract deals are mostly iPhone deals. When we checked in September 2026, Vodacom, MTN and Telkom all listed iPhones on monthly contracts, but Apple’s other devices were much harder to find on contract: Vodacom offered the base iPad 11-inch monthly, while its Apple Watch, MacBook, iPad Air and iPad Pro listings were marked “Not available to purchase monthly”. If you want an Apple tablet, watch or laptop, check the payment options carefully before assuming a contract is available.

This hub covers the whole Apple range across device types. For other device categories, see Device Contract Deals.

Apple Contract Deals by Network

Vodacom

Vodacom showed a wide Apple range online when we checked. Monthly contracts covered the iPhone 15, iPhone 16, iPhone 16e, iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max listed for pre-order. The iPad 11-inch (A16 chip) was available monthly in Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi eSIM versions. Apple Watch, MacBook, iPad Air, iPad Pro and AirPods were listed but not available to purchase monthly. The iPhone 17e was also marked not available monthly.

MTN

MTN’s online Apple page listed iPhones only. Its September 2026 catalogue (valid until 6 October 2026) lists a wider iPhone range on 36-month pricing: the iPhone 16e, 15, 16, 17, 17e, Air, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, plus pre-owned iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 models. The catalogue deals for the iPhone 16e, 15 and 17 Pro aren’t marked online only or upgrade only, although MTN also runs separate upgrade-only offers.

Telkom

Telkom’s smartphone gallery listed the iPhone 15, iPhone 16, iPhone 16e, iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro, plus a pre-owned iPhone 13. Its shop also filters double deals and combo deals.

Cell C

Apple appears in Cell C’s contract brand filter, and Cell C’s shop includes phone, tablet and laptop deal types. Check the current Apple models listed, as we didn’t capture specific devices.

Popular Models on Contract

Apple on contract, beyond the iPhone

Apple’s contract range in South Africa is wider than handsets: iPad, Mac and Apple Watch all appear in network and retailer listings. Two things separate them from a phone deal. First, only cellular-capable devices use a SIM themselves, so on Wi-Fi models the bundled data feeds something else. Second, a watch usually needs its own line or add-on if you want it connected independently.

Work out what each device in a bundle actually costs and whether you need the connectivity attached to it before comparing against a single phone contract.

iPhone

Apple contract searches often name an iPhone by number: iPhone 15, 16, 17 and now iPhone 18 pre-orders. When we checked, the iPhone 17 series and iPhone 16e were the most consistently listed across networks. The iPhone 15 remained available at Vodacom, MTN and Telkom as a lower-cost option. Older numbers such as iPhone 8, 11 and 13 are generally found only as pre-owned stock, where available; Vodacom listed pre-owned iPhone 11 and 13 models.

Our dedicated iPhone contract deals page, under Phones, compares iPhone models and networks in more detail.

Pre-owned iPhones

Pre-owned iPhones on contract were listed at Vodacom (iPhone 11, 13 and 14), MTN (iPhone 13 and 14) and Telkom (iPhone 13). They can bring an iPhone within a lower monthly budget. Before choosing one, check the condition grade, battery health, warranty period and whether the device can be insured. Also consider how long an older model is likely to keep receiving iOS updates compared with the length of your contract.

iPad

The base iPad 11-inch (A16) was the only iPad we saw on a monthly plan, at Vodacom. The Wi-Fi eSIM version can connect to mobile data, while the Wi-Fi-only version relies on Wi-Fi or a hotspot. If you want mobile data on the tablet, choose a cellular-capable model and compare the data plan attached.

Apple Watch

Vodacom listed the Apple Watch SE 3, Series 11 and Ultra 3, but not for monthly purchase. Cellular versions need a compatible plan to use mobile service without your phone nearby, so check network support before buying.

MacBook

Vodacom listed the MacBook Air (M2 and M5) and MacBook Pro 14-inch (M4 and M5), but not on monthly contracts. If you want a laptop on a monthly payment, compare laptop deals from networks and retailers and check whether the finance route is a contract, a store account or another credit agreement.

Compare Monthly Prices and Contract Terms

We don’t publish Apple monthly prices on this page because they vary by device, storage, plan and term. Compare these points:

What to compare Why it matters
Device and storage or chip Each storage tier or chip upgrade changes the monthly payment
Contract term MTN showed 36-month pricing; Cell C offers 24- and 36-month filters. Longer terms lower the monthly figure but can raise the total
Plan type Phones usually carry voice and data plans; iPads and cellular watches use data or add-on plans
Once-off fees Cell C notes most new contracts carry a once-off SIM and connection fee
Eligibility Some iPhone offers are upgrade-only or online-only
Monthly availability Some Apple devices are listed for once-off purchase only
Total cost Monthly payment multiplied by term, plus fees, compared with buying outright

Double Deals and Device Bundles

Apple buyers often want more than one device, such as an iPhone plus an iPad, or two iPhones for a household. Vodacom’s double deals let you combine different devices, such as two smartphones or a smartphone and tablet, and Telkom’s shop filters double deals and combo deals.

When comparing a bundle:

Given that Apple Watch and MacBook weren’t sold monthly at Vodacom when we checked, don’t assume they can be added to a bundle. Confirm with the provider first.

How to Choose the Right Deal

1. Start with the device type. iPhone deals are easy to find on contract; other Apple devices may need a once-off purchase. 2. Choose the model and storage. Match storage to how you use the device. 3. Compare networks. Look at plan inclusions and total cost, not only the monthly figure. 4. Check eligibility labels. Upgrade-only and online-only offers limit who qualifies. 5. Decide on new or pre-owned. Pre-owned iPhones lower costs but come with different warranty terms. 6. Consider an outright purchase for non-phone devices. Compare the total cost of a contract against buying from a retailer. 7. Prepare for the application. Contracts involve credit and affordability checks. Cell C, for example, lists a valid South African ID, proof of residence and recent bank statements or payslips.

Contract or outright purchase?

For iPhones, a contract spreads the handset cost and bundles your monthly plan. For iPads, Apple Watch and Mac, an outright purchase from a retailer may be the only practical route, based on what networks listed when we checked. If you buy outright, you can still pair a cellular iPad with a separate data plan. Compare the total cost of each route over the same period, including the plan you’d pay for anyway, rather than comparing a monthly figure with a once-off price.
