The Galaxy S26 Ultra is Samsung’s current top model — the largest screen in the line, the built-in S Pen, the most capable camera system, and the highest instalment. On Vodacom it is typically the handset carrying the most aggressive launch bundles and trade-in offers.
The Ultra is worth its premium if you actually use what separates it: the stylus, the zoom range and the screen size. If you do not, the standard S26 gives you the same generation’s software and processor for considerably less each month.
Confirm the plan tier behind any advertised figure — on a handset at this price it moves the total substantially.

- Vodacom deals — Vodacom’s full contract range. You use the S Pen. It is built into the handset and it is the clearest reason to choose an Ultra over anything else in the range.
You photograph at distance. The Ultra’s telephoto reach is well beyond the standard model’s.
You have a flagship to trade in. Trade-in is most generous around a launch, and on a handset at this price it makes the biggest single difference to what you pay.
You want the largest screen in the line. That is what the Ultra is.
You will not use the stylus or the zoom. The standard S26 is the same generation for much less.
You want a phone that is easy one-handed. The Ultra is large and heavy — handle one first.
What to check before applying
- Total contract cost — monthly instalment × 24, plus any upfront amount.
- Which plan tier the advertised price assumes.
- Storage capacity on the specific listing.
- Data allocation, and what happens when it runs out — out-of-bundle rates or a hard stop.
- Handset condition — new or certified pre-owned — and the warranty.
- Early cancellation terms, including the outstanding handset balance.
- What the plan reverts to at the end of the term.
- Insurance, since the outstanding balance stays payable if the handset is lost or stolen.
- Vodacom coverage at your home and work addresses.
Vodacom contract applications are subject to Vodacom’s own checks — identification, proof of address, banking details, RICA registration, and generally a credit and affordability assessment. Requirements can change. Approval is not guaranteed.
FAQs
Is the S Pen included?
On Ultra models the stylus is built into the handset rather than sold separately. Replacements are available and inexpensive relative to the phone.
Is the Ultra worth the extra over the standard S26?
Only if you use the S Pen, the extended zoom or the larger screen. Processor and software are the same generation, so if none of those three matter you are paying for size.
Can I expand the storage?
No. Galaxy S flagships do not take microSD cards. Choose your storage size at purchase.
Is a charger included?
No. You get a USB-C cable only.
How much does the plan tier change the price?
Enough to matter. On a flagship at this level the tier can move the monthly figure more than the difference between two handset generations, so establish it before comparing anything.
Is it too big for one-handed use?
For most people, yes. It is the largest phone Samsung makes. Handle one in a store before committing to two years with it.
What happens at the end of the contract?
The handset is paid off and becomes yours, but the plan commonly continues month-to-month at the same price unless you act. Diarise the end date and either move to SIM-only or upgrade — continuing means paying a handset-inclusive rate for service alone.
Can I keep my number if I switch to Vodacom?
Number portability applies between South African providers, so you can bring your existing number. Confirm the porting process and timing before switching, and do not cancel your old plan until the port has completed.
