When we checked in September 2026, Telkom’s catalogue listed the 256GB model from R1 099 pm x 36, and MTN’s catalogue listed the 256GB model at R1 249 pm x 36 on its deluxe plan (both catalogues valid until 6 October 2026). Cell C also listed the phone. We couldn’t read Vodacom’s prices, so check its shop directly.

What you’re getting
According to Samsung South Africa, the Galaxy S26 Ultra has a 6.9-inch display, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chip and a built-in S Pen. It comes in 256GB or 512GB with 12GB RAM, or 1TB with 16GB RAM. The rear cameras include a 200MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide, a 50MP 5x telephoto and a 10MP 3x telephoto.
Who it suits
The S26 Ultra suits people who want Samsung’s top camera system and the S Pen, and who plan to keep the phone for a full contract. If you don’t need the stylus or the long zoom, a smaller Galaxy S model will usually cost less each month.
Monthly Price and Contract Term
Telkom
Telkom’s catalogue (deals valid 7 September to 6 October 2026) listed the S26 Ultra 256GB on FlexOn 4:
- 36 months: R1 099 pm
- 24 months: R1 449 pm
- Cash price: R31 669
MTN
MTN’s catalogue, valid until 6 October 2026, lists the S26 Ultra 256GB at R1 249 pm x 36 on Yellow Plans deluxe, which includes 6GB of anytime data and 300 all-network minutes (checked September 2026). There’s no upgrade-only label on that deal. MTN’s upgrade page has a separate S26 Ultra upgrade deal on its Iron plan at R1 439 pm x 36.
What the term costs you in total
A lower monthly price over a longer term can still cost more overall. On Telkom’s pricing, 36 months at R1 099 comes to R39 564, and 24 months at R1 449 comes to R34 776, before fees. Telkom’s cash price was R31 669. MTN’s 256GB deluxe deal comes to R44 964 over 36 months.
Telkom’s 256GB deal was R150 pm cheaper than MTN’s when we checked, but MTN’s deluxe plan includes 6GB of anytime data against Telkom’s 4GB. Compare what’s included rather than only the headline price.
Data, Minutes and Included Extras
Telkom’s FlexOn 4 plan included:
- 4GB Anytime data
- 750 Telkom-to-Telkom minutes
- 100 all-network minutes
Telkom’s catalogue also advertised a once-off 20GB free bonus data allocation, valid for 31 days from activation. It isn’t monthly data, so don’t count it as part of your allowance.
Telkom offered a Galaxy Watch8 add-on with the S26 Ultra for R99 pm x 36 or R149 pm x 24. Cell C listed an S26 Ultra bundle with a Galaxy Watch 8 44mm. Bundles raise the monthly cost, so only add one if you want the watch.
MTN’s catalogue deal uses Yellow Plans deluxe, with 6GB of anytime data and 300 all-network minutes. Check the inclusions on the upgrade deal separately, as it uses a different plan.

- Anytime data versus once-off or promotional bonus data
- All-network minutes versus on-net minutes
- Out-of-bundle rates once your allowance runs out
- Add-on devices and how much they add each month

MTN’s catalogue lists the 256GB model on deluxe, plus a separate upgrade deal. Check the MTN Samsung range for current storage options and whether new lines are available.
Cell C
Cell C listed the S26 Ultra 256GB on Cell C Elevate 2 + and on EasyChat SIM, plus a smartwatch bundle. We couldn’t read its monthly prices.
Vodacom
Vodacom has S26 Ultra product pages for 256GB, 512GB and 1TB, but prices and stock didn’t load when we checked. Look up the deal on Vodacom’s shop or in store.
Buying cash from Samsung
Samsung South Africa sells the S26 Ultra directly on its Galaxy S26 Ultra buy page. Compare the cash price with the total contract cost if you already have a SIM-only plan you’re happy with.
Upfront Costs, Fees and Promotion Terms
The sources we checked didn’t show every cost. Before you sign, ask about:
- Connection or once-off fees
- Delivery costs for online orders
- Deposits that may be requested after a credit check
- Annual price increases on the monthly subscription
- Promotion end dates, such as Telkom’s 6 October 2026 cut-off
- Stock limits, since Telkom’s catalogue says deals are available while stocks last
What to Check Before You Apply
1. Same storage, same term: both catalogue prices are for 256GB over 36 months, but the plans differ. Compare like with like. 2. New line or upgrade: MTN has a separate upgrade deal at R1 439 pm x 36, so check which price applies to you. 3. Plan size: 4GB of Anytime data may be too little for a flagship phone you’ll use for video and hotspot. 4. Total cost: monthly price × term, plus fees, compared with the cash price. 5. Bundles: a watch add-on can be useful but increases your commitment. 6. Application: expect ID, proof of address and bank details, plus credit and affordability checks. Approval isn’t guaranteed.
