The phone has been replaced twice, by the S25 Ultra and now the S26 Ultra. If you want an S24 Ultra, you’ll most likely be looking at leftover stock or a pre-owned device.

What the S24 Ultra offers
According to Samsung South Africa, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has a 6.8-inch flat display, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chip and a built-in S Pen. Its cameras include a 200MP main camera, 50MP 5x and 10MP 3x telephoto lenses, and a 12MP ultra-wide.
Who it still suits
The S24 Ultra can still make sense for someone who wants an S Pen and a strong camera at a lower cost than the newest model. That only works if you find it at a clearly lower price, with enough warranty and software support left to cover your contract.
Monthly Price and Contract Term
We couldn’t verify a current S24 Ultra contract price from any network or from Samsung, so this page doesn’t list one.
For context, the newer Galaxy S26 Ultra was listed at Telkom from R1 099 pm x 36 (256GB) and at MTN at R1 249 pm x 36 (256GB on deluxe) when we checked in September 2026. Both prices are from catalogues valid until 6 October 2026. An S24 Ultra deal should cost noticeably less than that to be worth considering.
Choosing a term on an older phone
A long contract on an older flagship carries extra risk. By the end of a 36-month term, the phone will be well past its launch date, and battery wear becomes more noticeable. On an older model, a shorter term or a cash purchase can be the safer option.
Data, Minutes and Included Extras
If you find an S24 Ultra deal, check what’s actually included:
- Anytime data each month, rather than once-off bonus data
- All-network minutes versus on-net minutes
- SMS allocation
- Out-of-bundle rates once your allowance runs out
- Add-ons such as a smartwatch, insurance or accessories vouchers
