The Samsung Galaxy A56 5G is being replaced on contract by its successor. When we checked in September 2026, MTN and Telkom no longer listed the A56. Both offered the newer Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37 instead, and Samsung South Africa showed the A56 256GB as out of stock in both colours.
If you want the A56 itself, check Vodacom and Cell C directly, since we couldn’t read their shops. If you mainly want an upper mid-range Galaxy on contract, the A57 is the closest current comparison.

Who should still look for the A56
The A56 makes sense if you find remaining stock at a lower price than the A57 on similar terms. If the price gap is small, the newer model on a published deal is usually easier to compare and support.
Monthly Price and Contract Term
We didn’t find a published monthly price for a new A56 on the network shops we could read. For comparison, these Galaxy A models were listed:

A 36-month term lowers the monthly amount but adds a year of repayments compared with 24 months. To compare fairly, multiply the monthly price by the term and add any once-off fees.
Data, Minutes and Included Extras
The plan behind the handset decides what you get each month. Telkom’s FlexOn 2 device deals include 2GB Anytime data, 500 Telkom-to-Telkom minutes, 75 all-network minutes and SMSs, plus a once-off 20GB bonus that’s valid for 31 days (catalogue valid until 6 October 2026).
Telkom also offers a Galaxy Watch8 with the A57 for an extra R149 pm x 36 (catalogue valid until 6 October 2026). Add-ons like this raise your monthly bill for the full term, so include them in your total.
MTN’s listing shows the price and term, and the plan inclusions sit on each deal page. Check:
- the monthly Anytime data allowance, and whether it’s enough for how you use your phone;
- whether the minutes cover all networks or only the same network;
- whether bonus data is once-off or recurring;
- whether a bundled accessory or device is included or charged separately.
Current Networks, Retailers or Providers
MTN: No Galaxy A56 when checked. The Galaxy A range included the A57 5G, A37 5G, A36 5G, A27 5G, A26 5G and A17.
Telkom: No A56 in the current catalogue. Its Samsung deals include the A27, A37, A57, S25 FE, S26 and S26 FE.
Vodacom: Vodacom has listed the A56 256GB before, but we couldn’t confirm current availability. Check Vodacom’s Samsung range directly.
Cell C: We couldn’t read Cell C’s Samsung shop. Check it directly.
Samsung South Africa: The Galaxy A56 5G buy page is still live, but both 256GB colours showed as out of stock. Samsung sells cash devices, not network contracts.

Upfront Costs, Fees and Promotion Terms
Telkom’s catalogue lists a R99 once-off SIM and connection fee on device deals. It says deals are valid while stocks last, and that Telkom may adjust plan charges during the contract (catalogue valid until 6 October 2026). For any network, check:
- once-off SIM, connection or delivery fees;
- whether an upfront payment is needed after the credit assessment;
- the promotion end date and stock conditions;
- whether bundled extras are optional or built into the monthly price;
- early cancellation terms if your needs change.
What to Check Before You Apply
- The exact model. The A56, A57, A36 and A37 have similar names but are different phones. Check the model name and storage on the deal.
- Total cost over the term. Compare 24- and 36-month totals, including add-ons.
- Plan fit. Low included data can mean extra bundle costs every month.
- Affordability and credit checks. Each network assesses applications. Approval isn’t guaranteed, and terms may change based on the outcome.
- Documents. You’ll typically need ID, proof of address and bank details, plus RICA for the SIM.
