PhoneFinder is an online deal comparison and application service, not a physical phone shop. It lists contract, SIM-only and internet deals from Vodacom, MTN, Telkom and Cell C. When you apply, an agent calls you back, a credit check is run, and approved phones are delivered to your door. The agent may recommend a different deal from the one you chose, based on your affordability. Before applying, check the monthly price, the contract term (listings show 24-, 28- and 36-month options) and how your personal information will be used.
To see how PhoneFinder compares with store-based retailers, browse contract deals by retailer. For a network-first view, compare contract deals across providers.
Current Phonefinder Contract Deals
CURRENT MARKET FACT (checked 25 September 2026 on Phonefinder’s shop): Phonefinder is a comparison and application service rather than a network. It compares Cell C, Vodacom, MTN and Telkom, and quotes the data, minutes and SMS with every deal, which is what makes its listings directly comparable:
| Phone | Network | Included | Monthly | Term |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Samsung Galaxy A07 | Cell C | 1.5GB, 100 min, 100 SMS | R199 | 36 months |
| Samsung Galaxy A06 | Cell C | 1.5GB, 100 min, 100 SMS | R199 | 28 months |
| HUAWEI Nova Y62 | Cell C | 1.5GB, 100 min, 100 SMS | R209 | 36 months |
| Samsung Galaxy A06 | Cell C | 1.5GB, 100 min, 100 SMS | R229 | 24 months |
| HUAWEI Nova Y63 | Cell C | 1.5GB, 100 min, 100 SMS | R269 | 36 months |
| HUAWEI Nova 13i | MTN | 1GB, 60 min | R279 | 24 months |
| Samsung Galaxy A06 | Cell C | 3GB, 300 min, 300 SMS | R329 | 24 months |
| HUAWEI Nova 14i | MTN | 1GB, 60 min | R329 | 36 months |
| vivo Y04 | Cell C | 3GB, 300 min, 300 SMS | R399 | 24 months |
A worked example of why the term matters
Look at the two Samsung Galaxy A06 deals with identical inclusions — 1.5GB, 100 minutes, 100 SMS:
- R229 a month over 24 months = R5 496 in total
- R199 a month over 28 months = R5 572 in total
The cheaper-looking monthly costs R76 more across the term, and ties you in for four extra months. That is the single most common trap in contract comparison, and this listing shows both versions of the same phone side by side.
Note also the unusual 28-month term. Most South African contracts run 24 or 36 months, so an odd term is worth checking carefully — multiply it out before comparing against anything else.
CURRENT MARKET FACT (checked September 2026 on PhoneFinder’s site): PhoneFinder groups its deals into these categories:
| Deal category | What it includes | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| Phone deals | Smartphone plus a network price plan | People who want a new handset on a monthly plan |
| SIM-only deals | Network price plan only | People who already own a phone |
| Internet deals | Data and home or mobile internet options | People comparing connectivity rather than handsets |
| Bundle deals | A phone plus extras such as data, minutes, airtime, accessories or benefits, depending on the offer | People who want one monthly package |
| Budget deals | Deals filtered to a lower maximum monthly amount | Budget-led shoppers |
| Flagship phones | Premium devices on contract | People prioritising a specific high-end model |
PhoneFinder also has a Deal Finder questionnaire that asks about your budget, brand and data needs, then shows matching deals. Treat the results as a shortlist, not a recommendation you are obliged to accept.
We have not quoted prices because listings change often. Contract terms differ between listings, so a lower monthly amount over 36 months can cost more in total than a slightly higher amount over 24 months.
Phonefinder Phone Contract Deals
How the process works
PhoneFinder describes a four-step process:
1. Browse deals on the site by network, brand, budget or category. 2. Apply online using a short form, which includes consenting to a credit check. 3. Speak to an agent who calls back with next steps and deals based on your affordability. 4. Delivery of the phone once your application is approved.
This is different from applying on a network’s own website. With PhoneFinder, a sales agent sits between you and the final deal, and the deal you are offered may not be the one you first clicked on.
Networks
| Network | Listed on PhoneFinder | What to check on the call |
|---|---|---|
| Vodacom | Yes | Plan name, term, monthly amount, device |
| MTN | Yes | Plan name, term, monthly amount, device |
| Telkom | Yes | Plan name, term, monthly amount, device |
| Cell C | Yes | Plan name, term, monthly amount, device |
Ask the agent to confirm, in writing, which network the contract is with and who the contracting party is. PhoneFinder’s terms refer to passing your details to “3rd Party Providers” to fulfil deals. Knowing exactly who you are contracting with matters for billing, upgrades and cancellations.
What PhoneFinder is, and isn’t
PhoneFinder is a comparison and call-back service rather than a network. It collects your requirements and puts you in touch with a seller; the contract itself is still issued by a network, and the credit assessment is still theirs.
That matters in two ways: the monthly figure you are quoted should be checked against the network’s own current offer for the same handset, and any question about billing, coverage or upgrades belongs to whoever ends up holding the contract.
Is PhoneFinder legit?
PhoneFinder is operated by Phonefinder (Pty) Ltd, which its terms say forms part of the 3Way Group together with 3 Way Marketing (Pty) Ltd. The business model is clearly disclosed in PhoneFinder’s terms and conditions:
- By submitting your details, you consent to a credit check and to your information being shared with group companies and third-party providers.
- Those providers may market products to you, and not only cellphone deals. The terms list categories such as financial services, insurance, loans and retail, through SMS, WhatsApp, email and calls.
- The terms note that credit enquiries may leave a footprint on your credit record.
- You can opt out of marketing at any stage.
None of this makes it a scam. It does mean you should read the terms and decide whether you are comfortable with the level of data sharing before applying. If you would rather deal directly with a network or a retailer, that option is always there.
Phonefinder Deals by Brand
PhoneFinder lists deals by brand, including Apple, Samsung, HUAWEI, HONOR, OPPO, vivo and Xiaomi.
| Brand | What to compare |
|---|---|
| Apple (iPhone) | Storage size, model generation, term length |
| Samsung Galaxy | A-series versus S-series pricing, 5G support, term |
| HUAWEI | App ecosystem differences, device warranty |
| HONOR, OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi | Value models against the plan data you actually get |
Listing a brand does not mean every model is in stock on every network. Confirm device availability with the agent before agreeing.
Choosing between brands on a budget
PhoneFinder’s budget filter lets you set a maximum monthly amount, then shows deals up to that figure. That is useful, but it compares the monthly amount only. Two phones at a similar monthly price can carry very different contract lengths and data allowances. Before you narrow down to a brand, check:
- Term length. A 36-month listing spreads the device cost over a longer period than a 24-month one.
- Included data. The monthly figure may pair a stronger phone with less data, or the other way around.
- Device generation. An older flagship and a newer mid-range phone can sit at similar prices.
- Network. The same handset can appear on different networks with different plans.
If you already have a phone you are happy with, compare the SIM-only category instead. Paying for a new device you do not need raises your monthly cost for the whole term.
Double and Bundle Deals
On 12 September 2026, PhoneFinder had a Bundle Deals category but no dedicated two-phone “double deals” section. Its bundle deals are described as a smartphone together with extras. Depending on the offer, those can include data, minutes, airtime, accessories or entertainment benefits.
If an agent offers you two phones or a “free” second device, check the structure:
- Is it two separate contracts, each with its own monthly cost and credit assessment?
- Is it one contract with a second device financed into the monthly amount?
- Is it a genuine promotional extra that is stated in the network’s terms?
Ask for the total monthly amount and total contract cost for the whole bundle, not just the headline phone price.
Application, Delivery and Collection Options
Application
You apply online through a short form, then a sales agent calls you. PhoneFinder says the agent will recommend deals based on your affordability. If a deal is declined, the agent may suggest alternatives. Approval is never guaranteed, and it depends on the credit and affordability assessment for the specific deal.
You will usually need your ID, proof of address and proof of income for a contract application. The exact documents depend on the network and deal, so confirm them on the call.
Delivery
PhoneFinder says approved phones are delivered to your door and does not require you to visit a shop. Contract deliveries normally involve RICA checks, so be available to receive the parcel yourself with your ID.
Collection
PhoneFinder does not list physical stores or in-store collection. If you prefer to collect a phone or speak to someone face to face, a store-based retailer or the network’s own store is a better fit.
How to Compare Phonefinder Offers
1. Note the exact deal before the call. Screenshot the device, plan, monthly amount and term so you can compare it with what the agent offers. 2. Compare totals, not just monthly amounts. Multiply the monthly amount by 24, 28 or 36 months as listed. 3. Check the same deal on the network’s site. The network may run the same or a different promotion directly. 4. Confirm the contracting party. Ask which network and which company you are signing with. 5. Understand the data sharing. Read the terms and use the marketing opt-out if you do not want follow-up offers. 6. Limit repeat applications. Several credit checks in a short period can affect how future applications are viewed.
For store-based alternatives, compare TFG contract deals (store account and prepaid phones) and iStore contract deals (Apple devices across networks).
