The iPhone 14 Pro introduced the Dynamic Island and Apple’s first 48-megapixel sensor in the compact 6.1-inch Pro body. On Telkom it sits below current-generation pricing while keeping most of what makes a Pro worth having.
Its dated element is Lightning — this was the last Pro generation before USB-C. If you are standardising cables across devices, that matters.
Coverage first, then compare the data allocation.

Against other networks. See the national iPhone 14 Pro page for how this model compares across providers.
Against the 15 Pro. Adds USB-C, titanium and the Action button. See iPhone 15 Pro contract deals.

Best-fit use cases
Use-case considerations
You have confirmed Telkom coverage. The precondition.
You want a compact Pro. Most of the Pro experience in a body you can use one-handed.
You photograph often. The 48MP main sensor was a genuine step change on this generation.
You use a lot of data. Telkom’s allocations are where the value sits at this instalment.
You want USB-C. Not here — the 15 Pro is the first compact Pro with it.
Storage matters. A 48MP camera fills space quickly; 256GB is a more realistic floor than 128GB.

What to check before applying
- Total contract cost — monthly instalment × 24, plus any upfront amount.
- Coverage at your exact addresses, then the anytime data allocation.
- Storage capacity on the specific listing.
- Data allocation, and what happens when it runs out — out-of-bundle rates or a hard stop.
- Handset condition — new or certified pre-owned — and the warranty.
- Early cancellation terms, including the outstanding handset balance.
- What the plan reverts to at the end of the term.
- Insurance, since the outstanding balance stays payable if the handset is lost or stolen.
- Telkom coverage at your home and work addresses.
Telkom contract applications are subject to Telkom’s own checks — identification, proof of address, banking details, RICA registration, and generally a credit and affordability assessment. Requirements can change. Approval is not guaranteed.
FAQs
What is the Dynamic Island?
The pill-shaped cutout that replaced the notch, introduced on the 14 Pro models. It shows live activities such as timers, music controls and navigation.
Does the iPhone 14 Pro have USB-C?
No. It uses Lightning. USB-C arrived with the iPhone 15 generation.
How much storage do I need?
More than you might expect — the 48MP camera and high-resolution video fill space quickly, and capacity cannot be added later. 256GB is sensible for regular camera use.
Is the 15 Pro worth the extra?
If the monthly gap is small, yes. USB-C, a lighter titanium frame and the Action button are meaningful over a two-year term.
What happens at the end of the contract?
The handset is paid off and becomes yours, but the plan commonly continues month-to-month at the same price unless you act. Diarise the end date and either move to SIM-only or upgrade — continuing means paying a handset-inclusive rate for service alone.
Can I keep my number if I switch to Telkom?
Number portability applies between South African providers, so you can bring your existing number. Confirm the porting process and timing before switching, and do not cancel your old plan until the port has completed.
Is a charger included?
No. Apple ships a Lightning cable with this generation but no power adapter. Add one to the cost if you do not have a spare.
Can I buy it online from Telkom?
Telkom sells much of its contract range online and some offers are online-exclusive. Check both channels and confirm delivery and returns terms before ordering.
What happens when my data runs out?
Either out-of-bundle rates apply or the connection stops until you top up. Confirm which behaviour your plan uses — out-of-bundle charges are the most common unexpected cost.
