MTN offers the iPhone 13 on contract as a pre-owned device, not new. When we checked MTN’s online shop in September 2026, the Preowned iPhone 13 128GB was listed from R399 pm x 36 on the Yellow Core plan, with 24- and 36-month terms available for both new contracts and upgrades. We didn’t find a new iPhone 13 on MTN.
For the newer iPhones MTN lists, see MTN iPhone Contract Deals.

The jump from Yellow Prime to Yellow Deluxe added the most data per extra rand among the Yellow plans. Choose based on how much data you actually use each month.
Monthly Price and Contract Term
MTN’s order summary broke the lowest deal into two parts: R220 pm for the pre-owned iPhone 13 and R179 pm for the Yellow Core plan, totalling R399 pm x 36 (checked September 2026). That split helps you see how much of each option is device repayment and how much is airtime and data.
- Storage: 128GB only
- Colour shown: Midnight
- Terms: 24 or 36 months
- Contract types: New or additional contract, or upgrade of an existing contract
- Plan types: Voice & data, or Airtime only
A 24-month term would usually mean a higher monthly amount for the same phone. Select 24 months on MTN’s page to see the exact figures before deciding.
Data, Minutes and Included Extras
Each Voice & data plan on the iPhone 13 page combined anytime data with all-net minutes, which cover calls to any South African network. The Sky Premium tiers also listed extras, including savings on MTN Home Internet and priority service.
| What to check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Anytime data | 1GB on Yellow Core is light for regular streaming or social media |
| All-net minutes | Enough for your normal calling pattern? |
| Airtime only option | Works differently from minute-based plans; compare both |
| Extras on premium tiers | Confirm whether they need a separate MTN service to be useful |
Current Networks, Retailers or Providers
| Network | iPhone 13 status (checked September 2026) |
|---|---|
| MTN | Pre-owned 128GB, 24 or 36 months |
| Vodacom | Pre-owned 128GB listed |
| Telkom | Pre-owned 128GB listed |
Also on MTN’s pre-owned list was an iPhone 14 128GB at a slightly higher starting price. MTN’s catalogue, valid until 6 October 2026, also pairs a pre-owned iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 at R799 pm x 36, and lists the new iPhone 16e at R499 pm x 36 on core, not far above the iPhone 13 (checked September 2026). What to Check Before You Apply
Who the MTN iPhone 13 suits
- Buyers who want an iPhone with a lower monthly device cost, since the device portion of the lowest deal was R220 pm when we checked.
- People who want to choose their own plan size, because MTN offered a wide plan ladder on the same phone.
- Buyers who prefer a shorter commitment, as MTN offered a 24-month term alongside 36 months.
When another option may be better
If you want a new phone with a longer usable life, price the iPhone 16e on MTN over the same term. If you mainly need data, compare a larger plan cost with a SIM-only deal plus a phone bought separately.
1. Pre-owned condition and warranty. Get the details before signing a 24- or 36-month agreement. 2. Compare the iPhone 14 and iPhone 16e on MTN against the iPhone 13 over the full term. 3. Pick the right plan size so you don’t pay for extra bundles every month. 4. Check upgrade eligibility on your MTN account if you’re an existing customer. 5. Have your documents ready. MTN may run credit and affordability checks, and approval isn’t guaranteed.
