Latest vivo Contract Deals
vivo South Africa’s current range falls into three series:
- X series: flagship phones, including the X300 Pro, X300 and X200 Pro.
- V series: mid-range to upper mid-range, including the V70 and V70 FE.
- Y series: budget and value phones, including the Y31 5G, Y29, Y19s Pro, Y11d, Y11e, Y05, Y05e and Y04.
On network listings, the newest vivo models we saw were:
- vivo X300 and X300 Pro at Vodacom.
- vivo V70 at Vodacom and vivo V70 FE at MTN (upgrade only).
- vivo Y31 5G at Vodacom, MTN and Cell C.
Some older vivo models were listed but not available monthly. Vodacom, for example, marked the V30, V30e 5G, V27 5G and X200 Pro as “Not available to purchase monthly” when we checked.

Vodacom
Vodacom had the broadest vivo line-up online, covering all three series. It was the only network where we saw the vivo X300 and X300 Pro on contract, and it also listed the V50, V60 Lite and V70.
MTN
MTN focused on the Y series and the V60 Lite 5G, with the V70 FE marked “Upgrade only” for existing contract customers. MTN also listed a 2 FOR 1 offer on the vivo Y04.
Telkom
We didn’t see vivo phones in Telkom’s online smartphone gallery. If you want to stay with Telkom, consider buying a vivo phone outright with a SIM-only plan, or compare similar Android phones Telkom does list.
Cell C
Cell C’s online vivo range focused on budget Y series phones: the Y05, Y11e and Y31. Its listings showed a 6,500mAh battery on each.

vivo Y series
The Y series is vivo’s most widely listed contract range, appearing at Vodacom, MTN and Cell C. Entry models such as the Y04, Y05 and Y05e suit calls, messaging and light app use. The Y11d, Y11e and Y29 step up slightly, while the Y31 5G adds 5G support. Cell C’s listings showed 6,500mAh batteries on the Y05, Y11e and Y31, which may suit people who want long battery life.
vivo V60 Lite and V50
The V60 Lite was listed at Vodacom and MTN, and the V50 at Vodacom. These sit in vivo’s mid-range, typically aimed at buyers who want better cameras and design than the Y series without flagship pricing.
vivo V70 and V70 FE
The V70 was listed monthly at Vodacom, and the V70 FE at MTN as an upgrade-only offer. As the newest V series models, they’re worth comparing against the V60 Lite if the monthly difference is small.
vivo X300 and X300 Pro
vivo’s flagships, listed monthly at Vodacom. These carry the highest monthly payments in vivo’s range, so compare total cost over the term and consider device insurance.
Older vivo models
The V27 5G, V30, V30e 5G and X200 Pro were listed at Vodacom for once-off purchase only. If you want one of these, you’d buy it outright and pair it with a SIM-only or prepaid plan.

Why the same vivo phone can cost different amounts
The Y31, for example, was listed at Vodacom, MTN and Cell C. Its monthly price at each depends on the plan attached, the storage version, the term and whether the offer is online-only or promotional. To compare fairly, line up the same storage size, term and similar plan inclusions.
Double Deals and Device Bundles
When we checked, MTN listed a 2 FOR 1 offer on the vivo Y04, pairing two Y04 phones. Vodacom also runs double deals across brands, which can combine two phones or a phone and a tablet.
Multi-device deals can be structured in different ways, so check:
- How many contracts you’re signing: two phones may mean two lines, each with a plan.
- Whether the second phone is genuinely included or separately financed.
- Whether both devices end on the same date.
- Whether you’d use the second phone. A 2 FOR 1 is only useful if both devices are needed, for example for a family member.
If you only need one phone, compare the 2 FOR 1 against a single contract on the same network.
How to Choose the Right Deal
1. Pick the series. Y for budget, V for mid-range, X for flagship. 2. Choose your network. Vodacom had the widest range; MTN and Cell C focused on the Y series; Telkom didn’t list vivo online. 3. Check eligibility. Some offers, like MTN’s V70 FE, were upgrade-only. 4. Decide if 5G matters. Not every Y series model is 5G; check the model name and your coverage. 5. Consider battery and storage. Budget models vary in storage, which affects how long the phone stays usable. 6. Compare the total cost over 24 or 36 months, including fees. 7. Think about a 2 FOR 1 only if you need two phones.
Comparing vivo with similar brands
vivo’s Y and V series compete with budget and mid-range phones from several other Android brands at similar monthly prices. Compare storage, battery, 5G support and software update periods, not just the phone’s name. Over a 36-month term, the plan inclusions and support often matter more than small differences in camera specs.
New contract, upgrade or switching?
If you’re already on contract, check your upgrade date first, because some vivo offers, such as the V70 FE at MTN, were limited to upgrades. If you’re switching networks, confirm whether you can port your number and whether the deal applies to ported lines. If your current phone still works well, compare a new vivo contract against a SIM-only plan, which can lower your monthly commitment.
Protecting your phone
Check the warranty period and how repairs are handled before signing. For higher-priced models such as the X300 Pro, compare device insurance premiums and excess against likely repair costs.
