Latest Xiaomi Contract Deals
Xiaomi South Africa splits its phones into two main families:
- Xiaomi series: the higher-end line, including the Xiaomi 17T.
- REDMI series: value and mid-range phones, including the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G, REDMI Note 15 Pro and REDMI Note 15, plus the budget Redmi A range.
Xiaomi phones run Xiaomi HyperOS, its Android-based software.
The newest Xiaomi models on contract when we checked were the Redmi Note 15 series and the Xiaomi 17T at Vodacom. Several came with promotional extras: the Redmi Note 15 models were bundled with a powerbank, and the Xiaomi 17T with a Xiaomi Smart Purifier 2.
Older models such as the Redmi Note 14 series and Xiaomi 14T were still listed at Vodacom but marked “Not available to purchase monthly”, meaning they were for once-off purchase only.
Promotional bundles change, so confirm what’s included and the offer end date before applying.

Vodacom
Vodacom’s Xiaomi range covered entry-level, mid-range and upper mid-range options on monthly plans. It’s currently the main network route for a Xiaomi contract.
MTN, Telkom and Cell C
None of these networks listed Xiaomi in their online contract ranges when we checked. If you’re set on one of these networks, consider a SIM-only plan with a Xiaomi phone bought outright, or compare similar Android phones they do carry.
Popular Models on Contract
Redmi A7 and Redmi A7 Pro
Vodacom’s entry-level Xiaomi options on monthly plans. These suit basic use such as calls, messaging, WhatsApp and light browsing. The A7 Pro adds more memory and storage than the A7, based on Vodacom’s listings (4GB/128GB versus 3GB/64GB). Check whether the storage will be enough for your photos and apps.
Redmi Note 15
A mid-range option in Xiaomi’s Redmi Note line, listed monthly at Vodacom with a powerbank bundle. Xiaomi South Africa highlights IP64 dust and water resistance on the Redmi Note 15.
Redmi Note 15 Pro and Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G
These sit above the standard Note 15. Xiaomi South Africa highlights a 6,500mAh battery on both, with 100W HyperCharge on the Pro+ 5G. Vodacom listed the Pro+ as a 5G model, so it may suit you if you’re in a 5G coverage area and plan to keep the phone for the full term.
Xiaomi 17T
The highest-end Xiaomi phone we saw on contract, listed at Vodacom with a Xiaomi Smart Purifier 2 bundled. Compare its total cost against other upper mid-range and flagship phones, and decide whether the bundled purifier is worth anything to you.
Older Redmi Note and Xiaomi T models
The Redmi Note 13, Redmi Note 14, Note 14 Pro, Note 14 Pro+ and Xiaomi 14T were listed at Vodacom for once-off purchase only. If you want one of these, you’d buy it outright and pair it with a SIM-only or prepaid plan.

Contract versus outright purchase plus SIM-only
Because Xiaomi is mainly on contract at one network, compare two routes:
- Vodacom contract: one monthly payment covering phone and plan.
- Outright purchase plus SIM-only on any network: pay for the phone once, then choose the plan and network separately.
Add up the full cost of each over the same period. The outright route needs more cash upfront but gives you more choice of network and may make it easier to change plans later.
Buying a Xiaomi phone outside a network contract
Xiaomi South Africa’s website showcases its phone range, and Xiaomi phones are also sold through retailers. If a store offers monthly payments, check whether it’s a network contract, a store account or another credit agreement, because the terms, interest and cancellation rules differ. Confirm the warranty is valid in South Africa and that the model supports local network bands before buying.
Double Deals and Device Bundles
When we checked, Xiaomi’s contract bundles at Vodacom were phone-plus-accessory offers rather than two-phone deals:
- Redmi Note 15 series with a powerbank.
- Xiaomi 17T with a Xiaomi Smart Purifier 2.
Vodacom also runs double deals across brands, which can combine two phones or a phone and a tablet. If you’re considering a Xiaomi phone in a double deal, check:
- Whether each device sits on its own line with its own plan.
- Whether the second device is financed, bundled or a genuine 2-for-1 promotion.
- Whether both devices end on the same date.
- Whether two separate contracts would cost less.
How to Choose the Right Deal
1. Confirm your network. Xiaomi contracts were mainly at Vodacom when we checked. 2. Pick your range. Redmi A for entry-level, Redmi Note 15 for mid-range, Xiaomi 17T for higher-end. 3. Check if 5G matters. Only some models are 5G; confirm coverage where you’ll use the phone. 4. Value the bundle honestly. A powerbank or purifier only adds value if you’d use it. 5. Compare contract against outright plus SIM-only. This is especially useful if you want a different network. 6. Work out total cost across the full term, including fees. 7. Check software updates and warranty support for the model.
Comparing Xiaomi with similar brands
Redmi Note phones compete with mid-range models from several Android brands at similar monthly prices. If you’re on a network that doesn’t carry Xiaomi, compare equivalent phones from brands it does list, lining up storage, battery, 5G support and software update period. If Xiaomi specifically matters to you, compare Vodacom’s contract against the outright-plus-SIM-only route on your preferred network.
What you may need to apply
Contract applications involve credit and affordability checks, and approval depends on the provider. As an example of typical requirements, Cell C lists a valid South African ID, recent proof of residence and recent bank statements or payslips.
